2012-13 Season / Our 29th Season of Cinema To the Members of the 2011-2012 Season Of theCinema Society of San Diego From Andy Friedenberg, Director Our Tuesday, May 1st presentation of STARBUCK marks the conclusion of the 2011-2012 season – our 28th season of cinema. Members are invited to join us for the 2012-2013 season – our 29th season of cinema – at special discounted rates until June 1st, at which time the membership price increases to match the price for those on our extensive “interested list”. You can fill out the enclosed application or simply sign up on-line at www.cinemasociety.com. It’s been another busy, varied season for our 800 members – some 34 programs were presented, with several special events, field trips and a variety of short films filling out our busy lineup. Special thanks go to those studios, their agency representation, and our honored guest speakers who helped make the 2011-2012 season so enormously successful. Also, a special thank you to our advertisers/supporters – Rex Downing & Associates, Warner Brothers, Transamerican Mailing, Beth Friedenberg Travel Agent, The Consulate General of Switzerland, Olivia Francis Designer and The Sofia Hotel, along with the 242 members of Directors Circle and Reel Relief, whose contributions were significant in insuring our stellar lineup of visiting guest artists. We are proud to be returning to the AMC La Jolla 12 as our “home” for the new season, retaining our two showtime format of 4:30pm and 7:30pm. The CINEMA SOCIETY OF SAN DIEGO is your ticket to discovering carefully selected motion pictures offered by the top major and independent studios before they are released to the public, along with celebrity salutes involving classics. Our evenings include guest speakers who are local experts in the subject matter of the film, critics and occasionally actors, directors or studio representatives involved with the film’s production. Our speakers share their expertise with you, providing a forum to discuss various aspects of the evening's movie. A typical CINEMA SOCIETY program includes a cinema chat, formal introduction, screening of a feature film premiere, classic, documentary and/or short subject followed by a discussion. For an additional fee, members are entitled to partake in numerous film oriented travel opportunities, as well as other cultural events. Your membership in the CINEMA SOCIETY includes...
