This was one of my favorites at the P.S.F.F. and was just overjoyed that Andy was able to bring it to the Cinema Society. I was also most fortunate that I was able to bring my Grandmother and Godmother with me that evening. When the film was over my Grandma said "now that is how movies use to be made...", so I knew that she really enjoyed it because that is a high compliment from her. I was just so thrilled that I was able to share this film with her because she had been in my thoughts the entire time I saw this film the first time. This was a beautiful film both for the locations they traveled and the sentiment shown about the bond between a grandparent and grandchild and I am blessed to know the latter.

Truly a grandparent's movie. The unconditional love was deeply sweet; and who knew how lovely Bulgaria can be at this time of year. :) Thanks Andy once again for bringing a movie to us that we would have never seen otherwise.

All of the above, and then some. The bonus: Backgammon=an allegory for life.

Dear Andy:

This lovely film was even better the second time around. We loved it in Palm Springs and we loved it here. Any grandparent can identify with the depth of love for a grandchild. This was a totally believable film and the acting was so good, I forgot it was acting. The cinematography was gorgeous. I especially loved the humor that was scattered throughout and most especially I love a happy ending.

I would give this one a 3.5. Good story, beautiful cinematography, but it moved a bit slowly in places.

What a nice story. Lots of good symbolism and double meaning if you were paying attention. Makes me want to go to Bulgaria just to see those beautiful places.

Nice rebound from the last one. Among other things, I loved the many richly filmed scenes, campfire, dancing, biking, and celebratory backgammon game.
