7:30pm: NIGHTS IN RODANTHE, Auditoriums 4 & 5

Adrienne Willis (Diane Lane), a woman with her life in chaos, retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her—a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teenaged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and Dr. Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) arrives. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience. Now, with the storm closing in, the two turn to each other for comfort and, in one magical weekend, set in motion a life-changing romance that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives.

Based on the best-selling novel from the author of THE NOTEBOOK, Nicholas Sparks, NIGHTS IN RODANTHE stars Diane Lane, Richard Gere, Scott Glenn, James Franco, Christopher Meloni and Mae Whitman, and directed by George C. Wolfe. A Warner Brothers Release, it opens commercially in San Diego on September 26th.

Rated: PG-13 for some sensuality

Running Time: 97 minutes

Eye candy actors and setting. Not terrible, but not great either. With the exception of the hurricane, it just never came off as real, perhaps due to dialog or delivery.

I am not a fan of Nicholas Sparks movies (he has a tendency to kill off the main characters and I get attached). I did bring my Mom to the showing (it was just too much of a "chick flick" for my Dad to take her) and she enjoyed it very much. I did love the B&B and though I could see the outcome of Richard Gere, I thought the scene in which Diane Lane takes in all the mementoes left behind by Richard Gere was very powerful and moving. I would recommend it to a female friend looking for a good boo-hoo...I give it a 4-hanky pic.

Yep, was kinda expecting the Nick Sparks ending, but it was still done quite well.

I'm sure this film will turn out to be a very scary reminder about hurricane season for those who live on the coast. Diane Lane does an amazing job of breaking down near the end of the film (quite the tearjerker). It would've been interesting to hear about what was changed from the book to the film. A little distracting to get the two actors from Law & Order: SVU.

no more Nicholas Sparks....please

it was tedious and predictable, no chemistry between Gere and Lane.
