Our Season Finale

YOUNG@HEART

Prepare to be entertained by the inspiring individuals of YOUNG@HEART, a New England senior citizens chorus that has delighted audiences worldwide with their covers of songs by everyone from The Clash to Coldplay.

As Stephen Walker’s documentary begins, the retirees, led by their demanding musical director, are rehearsing their new show, struggling with a discordant Sonic Youth number and giving new meaning to James Brown’s “I Feel Good”.

What ultimately emerges is a funny and unexpectedly moving testament to friendship, creative inspiration, and reaching beyond expectations.

Starring the Young@Heart Chorus and Bob Gilman, YOUNG@HEART is a Fox Searchlight Release. It opens commercially in San Diego on April 18th.

Rated PG

Running Time: 110 Minutes

PLEASE NOTE: “Society’s Finest Award” ballots will be handed out this evening!

What a heart warming film, though very sad at times (that’s life, right?) it was inspiring to see these “seasoned” people still being so active and willing to try new things. It was surprising how in such a short time a viewer could get so attached to a person in the film that when they died one felt like they just lost a friend or maybe the feelings were of sympathy for those in the film that did actually lose their friend. We (me and my generation of 30-somethings) take so much for granted in our lives, the people in this film have experienced world wars, The Depression, real sacrifice and so on and yet they (those of their age group) love life more than anyone I know. I am worried that the grandparents from that generation are not being paid enough attention to, being appreciated or more importantly being learned from. When we lose them do we lose all the knowledge and wisdom they have of life? Because those that are coming up on being grandparents, when they hit there 80’s what will they have to offer... “where they were when Paris Hilton was released from jail"...???

Thank you Andy for a fine finale for a superior season (and making me appreciate my Grandmas that much more).

Hi Andy,

Loved it! It was an inspiring film as I rapidly approach the magic number "65" years of age.

Andy,

What a grand finale! Loved the film, loved the Notables. The movie defined the term 'young at heart'. Thanks so much and I'll see you in the fall and celebrate your 25th season. Thanks, Mary

Hi Andy,

I loved Young at Heart, it was an emotional ride for me, tears, etc., but so moving, I guess it reminded me of all the older folks in my life that I loved that are gone now.

I was born and raised about 15 miles from Northampton, I know it well. Its sort of like a more yankee Hillcrest, lots of interesting people. Barry and I will be going back in June.

Thank you, Joyce Shiloff
