It was an honor to be in the same room amongst true hero and protectors of our country. My heart was pounding during all the action sequences and I had to keep reminding myself that this was not a documentary (real) but was rather a movie about their reality. I thought the two lead Seals (the non-actors) we most believable and did a fine acting job. I do see this film being Top Gun-esque in it’s recruitment abilities. I couldn’t imagine being in the military let alone married to someone who is, so my heart and prayers go out to those in the service and to the family that supports them.

I loved that this film was such a wonderful tribute to the SEALs and all of our military. I sometimes got lost in the plot, but I was just amazed at some of the action sequences and came away with a new appreciation of their skill and dedication. The best part of the evening were the SEALs who were willing to participate in the Q & A afterwards, thanks to all of them.

The Seals are true American heroes. A film about their intense training and some surgically executed missions would have been fascinating.
Instead we got Rambo with wooden acting. I do not accept the premise that actors could not have been used because their acting would have been unbelievable. Why not carry that premise to all films?
Action films are not a favorite of mine so the extended chase and action scenes did nothing for me. The script I found to be weak. I find it hard to believe that highly trained Seals would routinely find themselves in an eyeball to eyeball machine gun battles.
I wanted to like this movie but I just could not do it.

Wow. An unending testosterone rush. Still revved up about this very real docu-drama which felt real every bloody step of the way. Brave men portrayed bravely.

While starting off as a recruiting video, it soon became an engaging inside view of the lives and actions of real heroes. The Bandito Brothers did a fantastic job of combining two distinct sides of SEAL lives. The suspending of disbelief was easy. The story and vignettes were easy to accept as real. It's hard to find fault with the acting. These guys were trained to be killers, not thespians. This was not usual Cinema Society fare. And we were lucky to have it presented to us.

Act of Valor is certainly a Valentine to the Seals. They are my heroes. They do things ordinary military personnel are not asked to do. They prepare through pain, practice, and by perseverance. They deserve our respect and admiration. The story stretches the imagination to highlight some of the issues in the world and brings it down to ground and water truth with some ways their mission is accomplished. All too real that sometimes not all the heroes survive the mission. It’s a tough business and thank God there are men who are willing to put their lives on the line for the rest of us and their comrades.

When I grow up I want to work for Bandito Brothers. The action scenes were so well written, acted, and photographed. As violent and fast-paced as the action scenes were, you could still understand what was going on. Not since TRAINING DAY a few years back have I seen a film this bloody be this good. Of course I’m prejudiced, we San Diegans love our SEALs.

Although the film was confusing, crazy-violent, and jingoistic I BELIEVED what I was seeing -- Act of Valor seemed like a documentary which is why I was practically sobbing after the LT threw himself on a grenade. No!!!!! Any political considerations aside, the SEALS come off as heroes, and I am wondering what ops they will be conducting tonight while I am sound asleep. If I were a 17 year old high school senior I would join the Navy tomorrow. The best scene in the film, in the opinion of both Rex and myself, was the Senior Chief's interrogation of "Crisco" -- his technique, involving zero physical torture was far more violent than the wreckage left behind by the boots on the ground.
