OUR HOLIDAY PROGRAM
P.S. I LOVE YOU
Holly Kennedy (Hillary Swank) is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life-- a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself.
In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each signing off in the same ways: P.S. I LOVE YOU. With Gerry’s words as her guide, Holly embarks on a touching, exciting and often hilarious journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning of life.
Based on the best-selling novel by Cecelia Ahern, P.S. I LOVE YOU is directed by Academy Award® nominee Richard LaGravenese (screenplay for THE FISHER KING), and stars two-time Academy Award® winner Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow, Harry Connick Jr., Gina Gershon, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Academy Award® winner Kathy Bates.
P.S. I LOVE YOU, a Warner Brothers Release, opens commercially in San Diego on December 21st.
Rated PG-13 for sexual references and brief nudity.
Running Time 126 Minutes
PLEASE NOTE: Our annual Holiday Trailer Movie Show begins at 6:30PM, followed screening of the 6 minute short ORNAMENTS
and P.S. I LOVE YOU.

Ok, but not much to say.

One of the best this year. Yes one could criticize some parts for being slow, but it was a fun movie and a unique story. I thought his appearances as her thinking about him was well done.

I'd actually give this 2 ratings...a 3 as a movie and a 4 for enjoyment. I was pleasantly surprised by how funny it was in parts and how good some of the acting was. It definitely could have benefited from having more footage left on the cutting room floor, but I agree...Ireland and its sons are quite sweet!

Thanks for a fun Holiday movie. In this time of negativity, suspicion and outright, vocal criticism, it is great to be able to spend an hour or two watching a film that makes you feel really good. I felt the same way about Lars and the Real Girl, August Rush and Juno. If I wanted crap, I would watch Michael Moore movies. So, to those who did not like it, Lighten Up! Just enjoy a little magic this Christmas season. You can always go back to being curmudgeony after New Years

OK, I didn't bring enough hankies, but I loved this movie. Although it would have benefited from a little tighter editing, it rose above the chick-flick genre with a wonderful screenplay, fine character development and terific performances from a stellar cast (once again Harry Connick, Jr. surprises with fine acting). It was filled with many genuinely hilarious bits, a multi-faceted portrayl of love, and true-to-life emotion.
One of life's main story lines for all of us at one time or another is the challenge of overcoming gut-wrenching loss with sanity, humor, humanity, and hope for the future. (You may remember a great line in Charlotte Grey when she is asked in her training whether faith, hope or love is most important. She says hope (not love, as one might suspect).
Thanks for including this in this year's selections. 4+

It started quite slowly and then crawled. I think the director is probably to blame. Most of the scenes were milked to death. Usually much must be cut from a movie and in this case much more could have been included if what was kept would have moved along at a normal pace. One did need tissue paper because the tears of boredom had to be wiped.

An entertaining romantic-comedy (rom-com), meant to be a tear jerker although that didn't happen as much one might expect. Hillary and Gerard did have good chemistry and I was glad that his part of the film wasn't over once he passed away (in the first 10 minutes of the film). Would've helped to be a little shorter. OK, so maybe this is really one for the ladies, dare I say it, yep it's a real Chick-flick (including a shot of Jeffrey Morgan's back-side, something you never saw on Grey's Anatomy).
